Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 7, 2026

WineMe ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, including:

Photos you attach to a rating, and the photos you take to scan a label or a menu, are re-encoded on your device before they are uploaded, which strips embedded metadata — including GPS coordinates. A profile photo you pick from your library is uploaded as-is and may still carry the metadata your camera wrote into it. WineMe never asks your device for your location and has no location permission.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate WineMe:

Content Moderation and Safety

WineMe has social features, so some of what you create is visible to other people. Every photo you attach to a rating is scanned automatically before it becomes visible to anyone, and display names, usernames, and tasting notes are screened for prohibited language when you submit them. If you report a profile, rating, or photo, we store the report — what was reported, why, and by whom — so our team can review it and act on it within 24 hours. If you block someone, we store that too, so we can keep the two of you apart. Reports and blocks are not shown to the person you reported or blocked. Our full content policy is in our Terms of Service.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law. Two narrow exceptions: content that is under moderation review, or that has already been actioned for a violation, is retained so the review cannot be defeated by deleting the evidence; and material we are legally obligated to preserve and report — in particular any suspected child sexual abuse material — is preserved for as long as the law requires, and is never visible to another user.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Children's Privacy

WineMe is intended for users who are 21 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 21. If we learn that we have collected information from a user under 21, we will promptly delete that information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy within the app and updating the "Last updated" date above.
